Bones can come from three main sources:

Same Individual (Autograft): Sometimes surgeons use a piece of the bone of the same individual who needs it for the transplant. This is pretty common because the body is less likely to reject it.

A Donor (Allograft): Most often, the bone comes from a deceased person who generously donated their tissues.

An Animal (Xenograft): In very rare cases, bones from animals like pigs might be used. This is still being researched for some procedures.
