How Does Rheumatoid Arthritis Differ from Osteoarthritis?

Unlike osteoarthritis, which is caused by wear and tear of joints due to aging, rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune condition. In RA, the body’s immune system targets joint linings, causing inflammation, pain, and swelling. Osteoarthritis is typically limited to joint damage, while RA can also affect organs and cause systemic symptoms.
