How Is Crohn's Disease Diagnosed?

Diagnosing Crohn’s disease involves a mix of your medical history, physical exams, and different tests like:

  • Blood Tests: To check for anemia, inflammation markers, and infections.
  • Stool Tests: To rule out infections and check for blood or inflammation in your stool.
  • Endoscopy: A camera on a flexible tube is used to look inside your GI tract for inflammation and ulcers.
  • Imaging Tests: Like CT scans or MRIs to get detailed images of your GI tract and see how far the disease has spread.

Multiple tests might be needed to confirm Crohn’s and rule out other similar conditions, like ulcerative colitis.
