How Is Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Diarrhea (IBS-D) Diagnosed?

There isn’t a specific test for IBS-D. Your doctor will look at your symptoms and health history. If you’ve had abdominal pain and other IBS symptoms for at least three months, you might have IBS-D. If you have additional symptoms like weight loss, bleeding, or a family history of GI cancer, your doctor might order tests to rule out other conditions, like celiac disease or colon cancer.
