How Is Type 2 Diabetes Diagnosed?

Doctors usually test your blood in a few ways:

  • A1c Test: Shows your average blood sugar over the past 2-3 months.
  • Fasting Plasma Glucose Test: Measures blood sugar after you fast for 8 hours.
  • Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT): Checks blood sugar before and 2 hours after drinking a sugary drink.
