To figure out if you’re obese, you can use something called body mass index (BMI). It’s a number that tells you if your weight is healthy for your height. Here’s how it works:
- If your BMI is 18.5 or under, you’re considered underweight.
- A BMI between 18.5 and 25 is considered normal weight.
- If your BMI is between 25 and 30, you’re in the overweight range.
- A BMI between 30 and 35 is considered Class 1 obesity.
- For a BMI between 35 and 40, you’re in Class 2 obesity.
- And if your BMI is 40 or over, that’s Class 3 obesity, also known as severe obesity.
Another way to check is by measuring your waist circumference. This can give you an idea of how much extra fat you’re carrying, especially if you’re overweight or moderately obese.
