Is Surgery an Option for Metastatic Bladder Cancer?

Surgery, known as surgical consolidation, may be considered in select cases:

  • Regional Lymph Nodes: Patients with cancer spread to nearby lymph nodes who respond well to chemotherapy might benefit from surgery to remove residual disease.

  • Distant Metastasis: In rare cases, surgery to remove metastases in organs like the lungs or liver may be considered, especially if there’s a significant response to chemotherapy and limited disease spread.
