What Are Some Other Problems Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) Can Cause?

  • Rheumatoid nodules: Hard lumps under the skin, usually on hands and elbows.
  • Anemia: Low red blood cell counts.
  • Neck pain, dry eyes and mouth.
  • Inflammation in other areas: This can affect blood vessels, lung tissue, airways, the lining of the lungs, or the heart’s sac.
  • Lung disease: RA can cause severe lung scarring and inflammation.
