- Whole Blood Donation: The most common type, where approximately one pint of blood is collected and later separated into its components (red cells, plasma, and platelets).
- Platelet Donation: Also known as apheresis, where only platelets are collected while the other blood components are returned to the donor.
- Plasma Donation: Similar to platelet donation, but only plasma is collected, often used for patients with clotting disorders or burns.
