Postpartum blues, often referred to as “baby blues,” are common feelings of sadness or mood swings experienced by many new mothers in the days following childbirth. These emotions are similar to the transient feelings often associated with the start of a workweek, sometimes referred to as “Monday blues.” It’s natural to feel this way for a few days after giving birth, and these feelings typically resolve on their own within one to two weeks. In most cases, medical attention is not necessary for postpartum blues. However, if these feelings escalate to extreme anxiety or persist for more than two to three weeks, it is advisable to seek medical help.
