What Are the Symptoms of Addison's Disease?

Early symptoms of Addison’s disease can be vague and similar to other conditions, such as depression or the flu. Common symptoms include:

  • Fatigue and lack of energy
  • Muscle weakness
  • Low mood or depression
  • Loss of appetite and unintentional weight loss
  • Increased thirst

As the condition progresses, more severe symptoms may develop, including:

  • Dizziness and fainting
  • Cramps and exhaustion
  • Darkened areas of skin, lips, or gums

If untreated, Addison’s disease can lead to an adrenal crisis, a life-threatening emergency where symptoms rapidly worsen.
