What Are the Types of Kidney Dialysis?

There are two main types:

  • Hemodialysis: Imagine a machine acting as a kidney filters your blood to remove waste products which is usually done at a clinic 3 times a week. Some people can do it at home.

  • Peritoneal Dialysis: Instead of a machine, your own body does the filtering. A special fluid is put into your belly, and it absorbs waste products. You can do this at home, either manually or with a machine.
