There are three types of Usher syndrome, each with different symptoms.
People affected with Type 1 experiences,
- Profound hearing loss or deafness at birth
- Loss of night vision at the age of 10 with severe vision loss at midlife
- Balance problems
People with type 2 might experience,
- Moderate to severe hearing loss in early childhood.
- Loss of night vision by teenage years with severe vision loss at midlife.
- Normal balance
People with type 3 experiences,
- Normal hearing at birth, with hearing loss starting in childhood
- Loss of night vision by teenage years with severe vision loss at midlife.
- Normal balance
