What Causes Dehydration?

  1. Not drinking enough water when you’re busy or sick, or when you’re traveling, hiking, or camping without access to safe water can lead to dehydration.

  2. Conditions like severe diarrhea and vomiting can cause a rapid loss of fluids and electrolytes from the body, worsening dehydration.

  3. Fever accompanying diarrhea and vomiting can worsen dehydration.

  4. Vigorous physical activity without replacing lost fluids, especially in hot and humid weather, can result in extreme sweating and dehydration.

  5. Conditions like undiagnosed or uncontrolled diabetes, as well as medications like diuretics and blood pressure meds, can increase urination and contribute to dehydration.
