Bladder cancer happens when cells in the bladder grow uncontrollably. The bladder is a balloon-like organ in your lower abdomen that stores urine. It expands as it fills and contracts to release urine from the body. The kidneys filter waste from the blood to create urine, which then travels through the ureters to the bladder and eventually exits through the urethra.
