Esophagus is the tube that carries food from the mouth to the stomach. If a child has reflux, his or her stomach contents will come back to the esophagus. The other name for reflux is gastroesophageal reflux (GER).
GERD is known as gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is a serious and long lasting type of reflux. If a child has reflux for more than twice a week for a few weeks, then it is a GERD.
