Pulse rate is the measurement of heart rate. This indicates the number of times the heart beats per minute. As the heart pushes blood into the arteries, these arteries expand and contract with the flow of blood. Taking a pulse measurement not only indicates pulse rate, but it also indicates heart rhythm and strength of the pulse. The normal pulse of the healthy individuals ranges from 60 to 100 beats per minute. This pulse rate may fluctuate and increase with exercise, illness, injury and emotions.
