Sometimes, ligaments at the back of the lower spine get too thick. Needle-like tools inserted through the skin removes some of the ligament to create some space in the spinal canal to reduce pressure on the nerve roots. Surgeries done to create more space within the spinal canal includes laminotomy, laminectomy and laminoplasty. In most cases, these surgeries will reduce spinal stenosis symptoms.
