Heart transplant is the last resort of treatment for people having end stage heart failure. Most people require heart transplant due to the following conditions.

  • Cardiomyopathy - It is caused due to any disease damaging heart muscles. The common causes are infections and genetic diseases. Sometimes, the exact cause remains unclear.
  • Coronary Artery Disease- Blockages in the arteries of the heart can result in heart attacks causing irreversible damage to the heart.
  • Congenital Heart Disease - Congenital heart disease occurs due to defects in the heart structure from birth. Some forms of congenital heart disease can result in end-stage renal failure requiring a heart transplant.
  • Valvular Heart Disease - These conditions occur due to damage in the heart valves.
