Liver transplantation may be recommended for individuals with:
- End-stage liver disease (cirrhosis) is caused by chronic hepatitis B or C, alcoholic liver disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), autoimmune liver diseases, genetic liver disorders, or other conditions.
- Acute liver failure resulting from sudden liver damage or injury, such as drug-induced liver injury, viral hepatitis, or toxic exposure.
- Liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma) that meets specific criteria for transplantation eligibility.
